Holomancy and Golemancy are crippled and magiteched versions of Mesmers ether connection and Necro minion summons (hell Oola became the master golemancer of asura exactly because she knew that trough actual necro powers she could be better at making golems).

That's Oola, Lab Genius to you.

Remember, you are not in charge

There's no reason why Holomancy would become a profession now when we've known about Golemancy for years and that isn't one.

Aww this reminds me again of the suggestion of cosmetic skill changes.

Different turrets/flamethrower for engi Golemancer or other minions for necro More ranger pets who do the same as only different color/style(also a great chance to delete some pets?) Holomancy for mesmer Different lines for same shouts as warrior/guardian Different stealth animations for thiefs or just different attack animations. Different conjured weapons for ele.

Even for every class you can come up with tons of themes and purchase them as like account upgrades... Would insta buy.

i doubt it, it seems like it would be to similar to mesmers.

Dont forget the dragon bash holos, holoKiel and the holo-announcer during the Queens Jubilee.

Maybe an alternate skin for mesmers, so I don't have to make butterflies all the time?

Nothing ever goes wrong with holograms. Absolute foolproof technology that never turns bad, never goes haywire with unpredicted results, and definitely never gains sentience and turns on the people that created it.

Real holographic simulated evil Lincoln is back!

When the game was first released, we saw precious little of Holomancy. It's an Asuran invention which could likely best be described as the master of magic, specifically dealing with light, to produce images. We've seen them utilize it throughout Rata Sum and their labs to project images around crafting stations, for data panels, and for grand images (like the banners of each of the three colleges).

It's also been, until recently, something solely limited to imagery. It's thus been seen as something of a dead end, a study that's already reached its primary potential, as evidenced by Elli's commentary in The Source of Orr, and had no further applications. Elli, with inspiration from Zott, was able to create a "Holo-battleframe" that gave her Hologram physical presence. It's also been demonstrated that holograms can be given physical presence in the related Splorge Metamystics Dynamic Event wherein a Progeny manages to create a "real" Dolyak out of a hologram of one.

It was Moto who continued to demonstrate that Holograms could be given physical presence with his Super Adventure Box, not only through the holographic environment, but with weapons that born from the same technology.

Dragon Bash continued the theme with projectors that created simulated Dragon Minions. The Aetherblades proceeded to steal these projectors after the revelation of their existence, and Scarlet repurposed them to create and endless supply of Holographic Pirate Minions.

The final iteration seems to be the projections Scarlet uses in the fight on the Breachmaker, where she's managed to render them immune to attacks that don't carry the same energy wavelength.

I doubt we've seen the last of the technology. I've a few Asura who are utilizing their own variances of it, themselves.

Mesmer!

If we did get holomancer as a profession I'd expect It to be more like elli's than a mesmers clones.

She just uses one hologram that boosts her stats.

If anything I can see them building holomancy has a golemancer traitline. Main profession mechanic will be to chose between a couple of different golems/ battle suits or a hologram, have you stand inside the holo rather than to the side of it to make it easier to play.

Give them rifles, pistols, hammer, mace, shield and a new weapon "power gloves" or something. Each weapon has 2 skills that change when you enter your golem and are different for each golem type, golem can only be set out of combat and is a major build choice.

Different enough in mechanics to the engineer or other professions. Would be similar in playstyle to the dervish with all their enchantments but with a ranged option. Elite skills could include a temporary auto pilot for your golem while you fight outside it.

It´s probably connected to the Dragon Bash holograms that were out in the world. Those were able to summon holograms that were capable of physical interactions (I guess Elli´s hologram might be a prototype of some sort?). When Aetherblades were introduced, they started to steal these devices and you can later see them in Aetherpath of TA. There are some of the Ateherpath holo generators in LA now too. I guess that Prime Hologram is just Scarlet´s touch on this technology and she developed it as some sort of guardian so that she can work in peace.

Anyway, holomancy is not much different to golemancy, both just use different "minion" to control. You could say necromancy is close too, but thats more of magical profession, while golemancy and holomancy is more technical/magitech discipline.

I think a Mesmers clones might be considered Holomancy :)

[–]Levhia 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Actually mesmers trick your mind into seeing something that isn't real. They are tricksters. The clones you see are supposed to be just an illusion. Holomancy is a completelly different thing. it basically embeds life energy into a hologram.

[–]aphidkid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's half true. From what I remember mesmers use pure magical energy, which they disguise as illusions to sentient beings. This is why they can attack structures for example.

It's not just the Prime Hologram. Many of the troops in LA right now can be assumed to be holograms. We've seen projectors, both in LA and in the Nightmare Tower.
